I photographed Vermont Youth Cycling at Richmond on October 15, 2022. Yet again, it was a glorious fall day — a bit chilly in the morning and warming up just enough by mid-day. Foliage was at near-peak for this event at Cochran’s Ski area.
Riders in Action: Vermont Youth Cycling at Richmond 2022
In this enduro race, riders were only timed on the downhill portion of the course. Depending on their category, riders pedaled three or four different downhill segments. Since riders spread out around the mountain riding different segments at the same time, I was not able to get photos of every rider this time. But, I did capture lots of fun images with stunning foliage and rugged trails as the back drop.
Waiting for the race results was the perfect opportunity to capture some photos of the Vermont Youth Cycling scene. The vibe kind and welcoming. Riders ride hard then enjoy each other’s company after the race.
I am proud to have supported Vermont Youth Cycling this year.
I wanted to add an outreach project in 2022. When I met race director, Rachel Cohen, at the VTYC spring scrimmage back in May we immediately clicked. It wasn’t long before we hatched the idea for me to sponsor VTYC this year.
As a decades-long cyclist, mother, former high school teacher and lifestyle family photographer it was just the outreach project I’d been looking for. I hope the photos I’ve donated to VTYC help grow the sport.
Cycling is a lifetime sport that has introduced me to some of my best friends and helped me maintain my physical and mental health for decades.
